One of the truths of being the somewhat-less-employed person in a couple is that you are at home more, and you might find yourself shouldering a little more of the yard maintenance. At least, that’s what I told myself this morning when the temperature was coming up in the delightful mid-60s and our yard was looking sorely neglected. I got down to business.

This job took a cool four hours, including bagging up that mess and taking it to the dump. But what better way to take advantage of such a day, right?

Then I heard the sounds of not only some fall fishermen, but also a few small planes coming and going from the Smith Mountain Lake Airport. Maybe those guys have got something on me. But wow, am I ever pleased with the efforts in the yard.
