We had a relatively uneventful trip to Lexington to drop off the younger Reynolds for his freshman year, except as we pulled up to a restaurant for dinner on Tuesday evening and I went to retrieve my lipstick from my purse, I learned that I had left that purse at home (40 minutes in the wrong direction), along with my driver’s license. Jim got to do all the driving. That added up to four hours on Tuesday and a total of ten hours yesterday.

Jim is the best, have I mentioned that?

And hats off to him, too, at about eleven last night when I discovered that distracting oneself from a momentous change like your youngest going to college really doesn’t work, and those emotions are gonna getcha one way or the other. He did all the driving, and I was the wreck.
