I write this post with my Northern Virginia friends in mind, one of whom mentioned yesterday that she knows her family is in back-to-school mode because they took three trips to Target within 36 hours.

We also have a back-to-schooler (two, actually), and with our trip to the U of Kentucky a mere week away, we also made that Target trip this morning.

Except our Target is now 45 minutes away.

For a former Fairfaxian, where we were within half an hour of nine Target stores, probably, it’s a shock to the system. But it does imbue the trip with a dash more reverence. And in a pinch, there’s a Walmart in Rocky Mount, only 20 minutes down the road.

But at any rate, we made a successful start.
